On My Wishlist: Zombies!
If you told me this time last year that I’d be researching zombie books, I really wouldn’t have believed you. But after reading Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, I was hooked. Here’s a list of some that are on my wishlist:
Feed by Mira Grant
And Deadline, the sequel. “In 2014, two experimental viruses … cured cancer and stopped a thousand cold and flu viruses in their tracks. And raised the dead.”
The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell
This is less publicised than the others but has fantastic reviews. “Zombies have infested a fallen America. A young girl named Temple is on the run. Haunted by her past and pursued by a killer, Temple is surrounded by death and danger, hoping to be set free.”
Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry
The sequel, Dust & Decay, was released recently. “In zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic America where Benny Imura lives, every teenager must find a job by the time they turn fifteen or get their rations cut in half.”
Sadie Walker is Stranded by Madeleine Roux
This one’s not out until January. “In the months since The Outbreak, Seattle has become a walled citadel – the Infected are kept at bay but the city is rife with kidnappings, religious cults and black-market dealings. And things are about to get much, much worse.”
Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion
Offers a somewhat unique perspective on zombies! “This is a zombie novel with a soulful difference. After J, its undead protagonist, devours a teenage boy, he begins to hear his victim’s thoughts and falls in love with his girlfriend—and she reciprocates.”
World War Z by Max Brooks
Read this before the movie’s released in 2012. “The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks … recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, hell of that dreadful time. World War Z is the result.”
Are there any zombie titles that you would recommend?
