So it’s the end of another year and the end of another reading challenge. I reached my goal of reading 70 books in 2012 (although I did downgrade it slightly from 72!). You can see the books I read January-June 2012 here and books I read in the second half of the year below.
In my previous 50 Book Challenge post, I talked about my favourite books so far, but you can read about my Top 10 Books of 2012 here. I have decided that I am no longer going rate books using half stars, which is why there’s only one below (and it actually should’ve received 5 stars!). I still have a few more 2012 books to review, but you can read the ones I have already posted by clicking on the title.

How many books did you challenge yourself to read in 2012? Did you reach your goal?
I read 45 books this year….which I’m not happy about, because I know I can do better. But I sort of don’t want to set an official challenge for myself b/c don’t want to feel pressurized!
I know what you mean – it’s nice to have a balance. I used to set myself 50 because I knew it was doable, but still a little tricky. I didn’t manage to complete it the first time!
I read 40 books in 2012. My initial goal was 25 so I’m pleased I was able to read an extra 15. This year, I’m aiming for 50. Most of my reading will be done during the summer when I have no university work to keep me from reading.
Good luck! That’s when I did most of my reading too, when I was at university.
I was pleased with myself as well when I managed to read more than I set myself to. I hope I can do the same this year as well.
Good job. :)
Thank you Ula :)
I have just set myself the 50 book challenge as one of my New Years resolutions for 2013 and have just started a blog where I hope to review all the books I read! I really like your blog!
Thank you, Emma! I look forward to seeing what you’ll be reading in 2013 :)
Hi Stacey! You are my inspiration for the book challenge! I stumbled upon your tumblr in 2011 and I was intrigued by the book challenge which you joined so I participated in it too out of curiosity lol. I read 22/50 in 2011, but I managed to complete it in 2012 with 50 =) Admittedly, I could have done a better job spacing out the time between each book lol; I was reading like crazy in December last year because I wanted to complete it so badly. But it was still a great reading journey =)
This year I’m going to aim for 60, 3 of which must be non-fiction & 1 classic because my speed becomes a lil slower when it comes to these genres.
Happy 2013! =) I really do enjoy your blog, you’re such an aspiration!
Thank you for following Pretty Books for so long, Genevieve! I think it’s an excellent idea to include classics and non-fiction. Good luck with your challenge this year!
